Jorge B. Machado

Jorge B. Machado, 80, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River. 

    He was the loving husband of Fatima Soares Machado. 

    Born in Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Machado and Constança Moniz Machado. 

    Jorge dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Santo Christo Federal Credit Union, where he worked as a loan officer and assistant manager. A faithful parishioner of Santo Christo Church, Jorge was also deeply involved in the community. For over three decades, he served on the board of the Ateneu Luso American Club, holding roles as president and treasurer, and was a valued member of the Portuguese Business Association, contributing to the planning of the first Portuguese Business Association parade.

    Outside of his professional and community commitments, Jorge had a love for life—enjoying dancing and outings with his beloved wife, traveling to the Azores. Above all, Jorge cherished his time with family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. His legacy of service, kindness, and love for his family and community will always be remembered. 

    Along with his wife, he is survived by his children Richard Machado (wife Linda) and Ana Carreiro (husband Peter); his grandchildren Nathan P. Carreiro, Abagail S. Machado, and Lucas P. Carreiro; several nieces and nephews. 

    The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Country Gardens Nursing Home as well as the nurses at St Anne’s Hospital for their kindness, compassion and care during his stay at both facilities. 

    A visitation will be held Thursday evening March 13, 2025, from 5 – 8 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA. 

    His funeral will follow the next day Friday, March 14, at 9 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, followed by funeral prayers 10 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River, MA.
