John C. DeSousa

John C. DeSousa, 76, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, in Fall River.

He was the widower of the late Maria Margaret (Botelho) DeSousa.

Born in Faja De Baixo, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao Sousa and Maria de Jesus Sousa.

Mr. DeSousa was employed as a maintenance worker at the former Joan Fabrics Corp., in Fall River, prior to his retirement. He was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and a member of the former Santo Christo Knights of Columbus. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Deborah Costa (husband Dorvalino), and David DeSousa (wife Dora), both of Fall River; his grandchildren: Elijah “EJ” DeSousa, and Gianna DeSousa; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Natalia Melo and Duarte Sousa.

His funeral will be held Thursday, July 27, from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St, Fall River, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, at Santo Christo Parish. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Attleboro. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening, from 5 - 8 PM.
