Joaquim Farias, 92, of Fall River; died Friday at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Noemi (Oliveira) Farias.
Born in Santa Barbara, St. Michael, Azores; a son of the late Simao and Maria Rosa Farias, he resided in Fall River for the past 43 years.
Mr. Farias worked as a machine operator in the local area for many years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Santo Christo Church. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by 5 daughters, Rosalina Branco, Palmira Felix, Naomi Patricio and Eva Dias all of Fall River and Ugolina Farias of Sun City, FL; 3 sons, Clemente Farias of Swansea, Michael Farias of North Dighton and Jack A. Farias of Fall River; a sister, Barbara Farias of Brampton, Canada; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Serafim Farias and brother of the late Manuel Farias, Joao Farias, Antonio Farias, Simao Farias and Jose Farias.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5 - 8 p.m.
