Joanie M. (Moniz) Troia

TAUNTON… Joanie M. (Moniz) Troia, 72, passed away January 19, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, in Fall River.

She was the widow of the late Michael Troia, retired Fall River Police Dept. Detective.

Joanie was born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph Moniz, Jr. and Beatrice (Marshall) Moniz.

Survivors include her children: Greg Borges (wife Maddie), of Taunton, Michelle Silvia (husband Kevin), of Dartmouth, Joe Borges (wife Paula), of Dighton, Guy Borges, of Dighton, Sara Troia, of Fall River, and Michael R. Troia (partner Michelle Lamoureux, of Smithfield, RI), Providence Police Dept. Sgt, of Cranston, RI; her step daughter Wendy Allard, of Fall River; her grandchildren Corey, Taylor, Dylan, Kylie, Allison, Thomas, Amanda, and Alyssa; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Patricia Mello and Joseph Moniz.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, January 24, 2022, at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St Chapel, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA 02724, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 4 – 6 PM.
