James L. Martin

TAUNTON … James L. Martin, 93, of Fall River passed away May 4, 2020 at Morton Hospital, Taunton.

He was the husband of Lorraine (Tavares) Martin.

Mr. Martin was born in Tiverton, a son of Jessie Martin and had lived many years in Fall River.

James served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He also served in the Massachusetts National Guard, 215th Army Band, after his service in the Navy. Mr. Martin was also employed at Raytheon in Dighton until his retirement in 1989, after 20 years of service with the company. He enjoyed music and was part of Martin’s Orchestra.

Survivors include his wife, a son Robert Martin and his wife Brenda, a daughter Kathleen Valero and her husband Joseph all of Fall River, a brother Deacon Jessie Martin and wife Agnes, 6 grandchildren: Joseph Valero Jr., Matthew Valero, Carolyn Martin, John Martin, Kenny Martin, Paul Martin, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Due to state restrictions, private burial arrangements are entrusted to the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., Fall River, MA 02724.
