Isabel J. (Sousa) Medeiros, 97, of Dighton, formerly of Fall River, died Sunday at home. She was the wife of the late Jose Medeiros.
Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joao and Senhorinha (Alves) Sousa; she emigrated to this country in 1967. Mrs. Medeiros worked as a seamstress at the former Sollof & Son Mfg. She was a member of Santo Christo Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Luisa Botelho of Fall River; seven sons, Jose Medeiros (wife Maria Helena) of Swansea, Afonso Medeiros (wife Odilia) of Fall River, Joao Medeiros (wife Eduarda) of Somerset, Amorin Medeiros of Fall River, Dimas Medeiros (wife Hilda) of Fall River, Duarte Medeiros (wife Ana Maria) of Bridgeport, CT and Bento Medeiros (wife Sue) of Dighton; two sisters, Lorrains Sousa-Hall and Hilda Hargrove; three brothers, Dimas Sousa, John Sousa and David Sousa; 35 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose Sousa, Maria Sousa, Tony Sousa, Frank Sousa, Alvine Sousa and Ida Hackett. She was the mother-in-law of the late Jose Botelho.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
