Irene P. Vasconcellos

Irene P. (Farias) Vasconcellos, 86, of 1944 South Main St., Fall River, passed away Monday. Irene was the wife of the late David M. Vasconcellos and the daughter of the late Joao and Alexanderina (Pereira) Farias. Irene worked in the garment industry for many years; working 27 years for the Shelburn Shirt Co. and 24 years for the Anderson-Little Co. Irene was a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church all her life. Irene had been a member of the Holy Rosary Society. Irene is survived by 2 sons, Paul P. Vasconcellos and late wife Beatrice of Westport and David R. Vasconcellos Jr., former wife Sharon L. of Fall River. Irene had 2 sisters and 2 brothers, the late Mary "Mamie" Estacio of Tiverton RI, Thomasina Satek of Chicago IL, the late John Farias of Fall River, MA and the late Joseph "Jose' Farias of Fall River, MA. Grandchildren: Heather Vasconcellos, Paul Vasconcellos, Jr. and wife Lisa and Jason Vasconcellos and wife Rhonda. Great-grandchildren: Kaylyn Vasconcellos, Joshua Vasconcellos and Jaydix Vasconcellos. Irene leaves many nieces and nephews. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Irene always enjoyed being with and taking care of all the babies in the family. Irene gave of herself in every way. Irene enjoyed cooking, vacationing; but what she enjoyed most of all; was her devotion to God, Jesus Christ, Blessed Mother and her religion. Irene will be sadly missed by everyone. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Flowers are welcome but the family prefers that contributions be made in Irene's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
