Irene Rodrigues

Irene (Carveira) Rodrigues, 80, formerly of Bayview St., Fall River, died Monday at St. Anne's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fernando Rodrigues.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Bento and Mary (Costa) Carveira; she lived most of her life in Fall River; spending her youth in St. Michael, Azores.

Mrs. Rodrigues worked as a machine operator for 22 years at Tick Tock Frocks. She was a member of International Ladies Garment Workers Union, now U.N.I.T.E.

She is survived by a son, Richard B. Rodrigues of Fall River; a sister, Hilda Oliveira of Fall River; four grandsons, Paul D. Rodrigues, Eric R. Rodrigues, Brad R. Rodrigues and Alexander R. Rodrigues; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late David B. Rodrigues, Helen Rodrigues and Sarah Rodrigues.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 7:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 6-8 p.m.
