Irene Bernat

Irene M. Bernat, 78, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River with family by her side 

    She was the longtime companion, of over 35 years, of the late Antonio J. Pavao.

    Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Emile Machado and Irene (Marcotte) Machado.

    Prior to retiring, Irene worked for most of her career as a nurse at Highland Manor Nursing Home. In her free time, Irene enjoyed trips to Foxwoods with her sisters, caring for stray cats, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also donated to multiple charities. 

    Survivors include her children Debra A. Forcier and Eugene J. Bernat; her siblings Emile Machado and Nancy Mello; her grandchildren Stacie Lee Forcier, and her companion Kenny Miranda, Jared Emile Forcier, Jessica J. Forcier, Kayla Bernat, and Adam Bernat; her great grandchildren Ava Rose Silva, Hope Emilia Silva, and Damon Forcier; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Claire Machado and Elaine Silvia.

    A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 7th, 2024, from 4 - 6 PM, from the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St, Fall River, followed by funeral prayers at 6 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
