Ida (Silvia) Santos

FALL RIVER… Ida (Silvia) Santos, 86, of Fall River passed away November 10, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Goncalo "Chick" Santos.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Ressorreicaé� (Terceira) Silvia and had been a lifelong resident of this city.
She attended BMC Durfee High School, Received a Bachelor's Degree from SMU, now UMASS Dartmouth, and a Master's Degree from Bridgewater State Teacher's College.
She was a Special Needs Teacher in the Fall River School System before retiring in 1996.
Mrs. Santos was a communicant of Holy Name Church. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, New England Educators Association Retired Teachers Association and the Retired Teachers Association of Bristol County and Retired State, County & Municipal Association.
She is survived by her daughter; Cheryl A Gonsalves of Fall River , her sons; Thomas G. Santos of Fall River, David J. Santos of Tiverton and James M. Santos of Tiverton, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Joseph Silvia, Mary J. Souza, Genevieve Silvia, Dolores Ward and Noreen Silvia.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Tuesday, November 14th at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St, Fall River, MA 02720. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours.
