Helen (Rapoza) Mello

Helen Mello, 94, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, August 27th, after a brief illness, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her only daughter Elizabeth A. Ferreira and son-in-law Thomas Ferreira, Jr.

She was the widow of the late Herman “Mickey” Mello, to whom she was married for 74 years.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Alpeta Rapoza and Miguel Rapoza.

Helen was employed at Bradlee’s Department Store for 25 years. She retired at the age of 62 and then enjoyed spending her time traveling.

Besides her beloved daughter and son-in-law, she leaves behind her sister Pat Richner and brother-in-law James Richner and her brother Michael Rapoza and sister-in-law Linda Rapoza; several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held at 9 AM Thursday, August 31, at the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening, from 5 - 7 PM
