Gilda (Custodio) Correia, 91, of Tiverton, RI; passed away peacefully on November 15, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Correia. She was the devoted daughter of the late John and Liduina (Teixeira) Custodio.
Gilda and Ernest were owners of the former Harborside Restaurant in Tiverton before retiring in 1982. For many years prior, she worked in the garment industry in Fall River and was an accomplished seamstress.
She had an amazing constitution, until just two years ago, she could be seen driving to visit her sister, kids or to the laundromat. Gilda cherished her family and they were devoted to her.
She is survived by a daughter, Anne Marie Coakley (Husband Michael) a son, Ernest Correia (Wife Jane) a brother, Antone Custodio, grandchildren, Matthew, Kate, Amanda, Alison, Michael and great-grandchildren, Ella, Tess and Leah. She was the sister of the late Evelyn Morris, Edward Custodio and John Custodio.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home 2064 South Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4 - 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the Block Scholarship Fund St. Philomena School 324 Cory's Lane Portsmouth, RI 02871.
