Gilberto M. Piedade

FALL RIVER... Gilberto M. Piedade, 85, of Fall River passed away January 20, 2021 at Blue Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton.

He was the loving husband of Eduarda (Mendonca) Piedade to whom he had been married for almost 63 years.

Born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Herminio and Rosalina (Guerreiro) Moniz Piedade.

Mr. Piedade had worked for over 25 years as a Fiberglass Laminator for Ashworth Brothers Corp. He was a man dedicated to his faith and his family. He was an avid soccer fan, specifically of the team Sporto. He was an animal lover, and always had a dog by his side throughout his life. He was a quiet, gentle man, who loved his daily walks and gardening.

Along with his wife, survivors include his daughter: Edwina Mello (husband: Everett) of Swansea his grandsons: Branden Mello and Michael Mello (wife: Jackie); his great grandchild: Casey Mello. His siblings, Antonio Eduardo Moniz of Tennessee, Luisa Sousa of Canada and Julieta Silva of Fall River, MA. He was the father of Deborah Piedade who he adored, brother to Jose Piedade, Armando Piedade, Connie Costa, Ines Paiva and Jose M. Moniz who all preceded him.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Blue Hills for their exceptional care they had provided to Gilberto during his stay.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday at 10 AM From the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA 02724 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church, North Main St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 8:30 – 10 AM, prior to the funeral.

Masks and social distancing will be required.
