Gilberto Camara

Gilberto Camara, 73, of Fall River, a retired laborer, died Tuesday, March 1st at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. He was the husband of Osvalda P. (de Medeiros) Camara.
Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose and Maria dos Anjos (Arruda-Carvalho) Camara; he emigrated to this country in 1970 and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mr. Camara retired from John O'Toole Landscaping in Waltham. He previously worked for Tony Jardin Landscaping in Waltham and Steve Vaneria Landscaping in Newton. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America - Local 14 and a member of the Santo Christo Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Ferreira and her husband Wayne of Pawtucket, RI; a son, David Camara and his wife Kristen of Somerset, MA; three sisters, Maria dos Anjos Camara of Canada, Deodata Amaral and Isabel Maurico, both of St. Michael, Azores; a brother, Manuel Camara of Fall River; three grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin and Kallie; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Camara, Antonio Camara and Conceicau Sousa.
His funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Sunday 5-8 p.m.
