Gilberta C. (Cabral) Miranda

SOMERSET ... Gilberta C. Miranda, 85, of Somerset, passed away peacefully October 18, 2021 at her home.

She was the widow of the late Joseph Martins Miranda, to whom she was married from 1955 until his death in 1983.

Born in Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was a daughter of the late Moises Cabral and Gilberta Pimentel.

Mrs. Miranda was a homemaker, raising a family of seven children and many grandchildren. Among her greatest joys in life were listening to her children make music, cooking for family and friends and reminiscing at large family gatherings.In her earlier years, she was an accomplished seamstress creating beautiful outfits and costumes for her kids and grandkids. She was an active Boy Scout parent, and had an open-door policy for all her children's friends. She will be remembered by all as the neighborhood "Mom" who always had a hot, delicious meal ready to share.

Survivors include two daughters: Maria DeMelo (husband Paul) and Nelia Charves (husband Joseph), both of Somerset; five sons: Joseph Miranda (wife Ann Marie), of Fall River, Emanuel Miranda (wife Audrey) and George Miranda, both of Dartmouth, Carlos Miranda (wife Lorraine), of Fall River, and Alex Miranda (wife Nicolette), of Foxborough; her sister Maria Fatima Tavares (husband Durval), of Somerset; nine grandchildren: Eric, Lisa (husband Craig), Phillip (wife Caitlin), Christopher (wife Mary), Kelsey, Jesse, Stephanie, Lacie, and Cade; six great-grandchildren: Skylah, Noah, Tabitha, Jeremy, Madeline, and Oliver; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lourdes and Domingos.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Thursday, October 21st, 2021, at 10:30 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 :00 AM at Santo Christo Church, 250 Columbia St Fall River. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 1540 Stafford Rd. Fall River. Calling hours will be held Thursday Octob.er 21, 2021 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM, prior to the service.
