George A. Cordeiro

George A. Cordeiro, 93, of Hathaway Commons Road Fall River, passed away Tuesday. He was the husband of the late Georgianna (Andrade) Cordeiro.

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Antone and Isabel (Rapoza) Cordeiro, he was a lifelong resident of this city.

A veteran of the United States Army he served during WWII.

Mr. Cordeiro worked as a machine operator for the former Newport Finishing, retiring in 1982.

He enjoyed doing yard work, trips to Foxwoods and was an avid New England Patriots fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly A. Mello of Fall River, 3 sisters, Josephine Cunha, Adeline "Lena" Pereira, Hermina "Minnie" Amaral all of Fall River; a grandson, Ryan M. Mello, numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Cordeiro, Joseph Cordeiro, Manuel Cordeiro, Frederick Cordeiro, Ruth Brum, Mary Costa, Mary Reis; grandfather of the late Elizabeth Mello and father-in-law of late Arthur Mello.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME 2064 SOUTH MAIN ST. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5 - 9 p.m.
