Frank P. Ladeira, Sr., 91, of Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., formerly of Dwelly St., husband of the late Irene F. (Santerre) Ladeira, passed away and was reunited with his beloved Irene on Monday, May 5th.
Born in St, Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Agostinho P. and Maria (Almeida) Ladeira; he lived in Fall River for most of his life. Mr. Ladeira served in the U.S. Army during WW II, attached to Company "A" 597th Signal Aircraft Warning Batallion. He would speak often of his time in the service and about being stationed at Guadalcanal.
Mr. Ladeira was the owner and operator for many years of the former Frank's Auto Body. He was a former member of the Monte Pio Club and St. John's Club.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Catholic Memorial Home Unit 7 for the loving, compassionate and dignified care they provided to Frank during his stay.
He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia A. Velozo (husband Jim) of Somerset; two sons, Frank P. Ladeira, Jr. of Fall River and Steven Ladeira (wife Karen) of Westport; a sister, Laura Eaton of Fall River; seven grandchildren, Kristin Moniz (husband John), John Roncka (wife Robin), Jason Ladeira, Evan Ladeira, Donielle & Chad Ladeira and Justin Medeiros; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Eric Medeiros and Ryan Pelletier and the brother of the late Gus and Jim Pereira.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday, May 16th at 9 a.m. in the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St. Burial will be private. Calling hours are omitted.
