FALL RIVER… Fausto J. Vasconcellos, Jr., 84, of Fall River, died Tuesday, April 19th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Alice (Quintal) Vasconcellos.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Fausto J. and Hilda (Serpa) Vasconcellos, Sr., he was a lifelong resident of this city. Mr. Vasconcellos served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid Bruins fan, enjoyed horse racing and soccer. He retired at the age of 63 from the former Priority Finishing where he was a union foreman. He previously worked for 39 years at the former Converse Rubber of Bristol. He also worked part-time for the Oliveira Funeral Homes, Inc.
Besides his wife of 59 years, he is survived by two daughters, Valerie R. Arvelo and her husband Antonio of Dartmouth, MA and Leslie R. Ruel and her husband Richard of Somerset, MA; a son, John C. Vasconcellos of Fall River; a sister, Hilda Michaluk of Fall River; a brother, Alfred Vasconcellos of New Bedford, MA; three grandchildren, Alexandra R. Arvelo, Jason A. Vasconcellos and Michael J. Vasconcellos; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lyllyan Borges, Richard A. Vasconcellos, Anthony "Tony" Vasconcellos, Robert Vasconcellos and Ayres Vasconcellos.
His funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. Committal prayers and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral from 8-9:30 a.m.
