Evelyn Raposa

Evelyn (Silvia) Raposa, 86, of Charles St., Fall River, died Saturday at the Fall River Jewish Home. She was the wife of the late John S. Raposa.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Lopes) Silvia; she was a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Mrs. Raposa worked as a weaver for many years in the local textile industry and was a homemaker. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Raposa of Fall River; a brother, George Silvia of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Isabel Pereira.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Animal Rescue League of Fall River, Callie Jo Fund, 474 Durfee St., Fall River, MA 02720.
