Evangelina Freitas

Evangelina (Moniz) Freitas, 77, of Manchester St., Fall River, died Sunday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Antone C. "Red" Freitas.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Adeline (Rego) Moniz; she was a lifelong resident of this city and a communicant of St. Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church. Mrs. Freitas retired from the former Carousel Curtain Mfg.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Freitas of Cranston, RI and Gale Gariepy (Husband David) of Fall River; a sister, Louise Roque of Raynham, MA; three brothers, Dennis Moniz of Tiverton, RI, Armando "Eddie" Moniz of Fall River and John Moniz of Somerset, MA; two beloved grandchildren, David Gariepy, Jr. (wife Elizabeth) and Denyelle Gariepy; a beloved great-granddaughter, Julianne Gariepy; two step-grandchildren, Nicholas Esteves and Serena Esteves and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a longtime family friend, Patricia Lonardo. She was the sister of the late Mary Brazil, Manuel Moniz, Adeline Amaral and Charles Moniz.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
