Eugenia Mattos

Eugenia (Pilch) Mattos, 87, of 455 Brayton Ave., Somerset, formerly of South Almond St., Fall River, died Monday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Mattos, Jr.

Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Jon and Ludwiga (Piknic) Pilch, she was a lifelong resident of this city.

Mrs. Mattos worked as a trimmer for many years in the local garment industry until her retirement in 1989.

She is survived by a son, William J. "Bill" Mattos (Wife Donna) of Swansea; a granddaughter, Kathryn Toolin; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Zigmund Pilch and Sophia Pilch.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral. Interment is private. Calling hours Friday 5 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Disabled American Veterans of MA, 750 North Bedford Street, East Bridgewater, MA 02333-3107.
