Ermelinda Furtado

Ermelinda (Rodrigues) Furtado, 92, of Sprague St., died Thursday at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Adelino Furtado.

Born in Maia, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Caetano Rodrigues and Maria Incarnacao Correia; she resided in Fall River since 1967 and was a member of Santo Christo Church. Mrs. Furtado worked as a folder for many years at the former Bristol Knitting Mills.

She is survived by a daughter, Delzira R. Paiva of Fall River; two sons, Jose Furtado of Fall River and Adelino Furtado, Jr. of Seekonk; a sister, Irene Rodrigues of St. Michael, Azores; a brother, Jose Rodrigues of Fall River; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late George Furtado and the sister of the late Ines Rodrigues, Mariana Ponte, Delzira Costa, Maria Jose Rodrigues, Maria do Espirito Santo Viveiros and Conceicao Rodrigues Paiva.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-9 p.m.
