Ermelinda (Teixeira) Borges

FALL RIVER… Ermelinda T. (Teixeira) Borges, 90, of Fall River passed away September 19, 2021 at St. Anne’s Hospital.

She was the loving wife of the late Luis Borges to whom she has been married for 45 years prior to his passing.

Born in St., Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Angela (Vieira) Teixeira. She moved to Fall River in 1969.

Mrs. Borges had worked as a Sewing Machine Operator at Darwood Manufacturing for many years before her retirement. She had enjoyed crocheting and sewing but above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children Joseph Borges of Assonet, Carlos Borges of North Dartmouth, Ellie Vieira of Westport, Frank Borges of the Azores and Nelia Nichols of Snowhomish, WA; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose and Manuel Teixeira.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:30 AM from Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday from 9 – 10:30 AM, prior to the Mass.
