Emilia "Millie" Medeiros

March 4, 1922 — November 22, 2011

Emilia "Millie" (Pacheco) Medeiros, 89, of Sakonnet Bay Manor, 1215 Main Road, Tiverton, formerly of Mathew Rd., Tiverton, RI, died Tuesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late John "Jack Zip" Medeiros, Jr.

Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Alvaro and Emilia (Rego) Pacheco; she lived in Tiverton for most of her life and was a longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church and a former member of Holy Ghost School PTA. She was a former secretary of the Portuguese American Civic League.

Mrs. Medeiros worked as a floor lady at the former Beacon Garment, retiring in 1984.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Rebello of Tiverton and Joan Eckhart of Assonet; a son, John Gary Medeiros of Eastpoint, FL; two sisters, Olivia Medeiros of Tiverton and Leonora Gifford of Fall River; two granddaughters, Susan Black and Amy Lee Eckhart; two great-granddaughters, Nelle Black and Isabella Black and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation morning of funeral from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
