Elaine Moniz

Elaine M. (Dias) Moniz, 81, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at St. Anne’s Hospital.

     She was the loving long-time partner of the late John Steele, for over 30 years, and the widow of the late Ronald Moniz.

    Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Dias and Genevieve (Perry) Dias.

    Elaine dedicated much of her life to hard work and service. She began her career as a seamstress in the textile mills of Fall River, a job that reflected her attention to detail and strong work ethic. Later, she worked at Wendy's and then as a cleaner for a local cleaning company, always committed to doing her best. Elaine was also active in her community, serving as a member of the Auxiliary Police and participating in the CB Club. Outside of work, she enjoyed simple pleasures like watching her beloved soap operas, listening to the timeless music of Elvis Presley, and, above all, cherishing the company of her family, who were the center of her world.

    Elaine is survived by her children Lynn Lester (husband Vernon, late husband Silas Woods), of Florida, Gary Moniz, Karen Steele, and Michelle Ann Moniz-Ferry (late husband Justin Ferry), all of Fall River; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Steven Moniz, Keith Moniz, and George Moniz.

    A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 9 – 11 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
