Durvalina (Sousa) Correia

FALL RIVER… Durvalina (Sousa) Correia, 86, of Fall River, passed away January 11, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family.

She was the loving wife of the late Jose B. Correia.

Born in Terceira, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Francisco V. and Rosa (Gonsalves) Sousa.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Correia was employed as a fuser at the former Whaling Manufacturing Co. in Fall River. She was a communicant of Santo Christo Parish and enjoyed crocheting, watching TV, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons: Jose Correia, Manuel Correia, Jorge Correia, Leonel Correia, Eduard Correia, all of Fall River, and Luis Correia, of the Azores; her daughters: Ilda Garcia and Maria Medeiros, both of Fall River; her sisters: Envelina Cunha, of Fall River, and Merces DeMelo, of Canada; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joao Correia and sister of the late Emily Borges, Alvarina Matthews, and Manuel Sousa.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10 AM at Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St. Fall River, MA 02721, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Santo Christo Parish, Columbia St. Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held from 8:30 – 10 AM, prior to the service.
