Douglas E. "Doug" Medeiros

Douglas E. "Doug" Medeiros, 45, of 4203 SW 15th Place, Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Westport, died Tuesday at home. He was the husband of Rhonda A. (Costa) Medeiros.

Born in Fall River, MA, a son of Norman J. and Janice R. (Oliveira) Mello of Somerset; he spent the past several months in Florida, previously living in Westport for 15 years.
He was a graduate of Somerset High School, class of 1985 and received his Bachelors of Science from the former SMU, now U MASS Dartmouth. Doug was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and NASCAR.

He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and was a lifetime member and past Post Commander 2001& 2002 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8502 in Westport.

Mr. Medeiros last worked as a chemist being the lab manager at Powers Pharmaceuticals. He previously worked at Nutramax Pharmaceuticals in Brockton and at the former Globe Manufacturing of Fall River in R & D. He worked part-time in the family business at the Oliveira Funeral Home.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Emily H. Medeiros of Fall River; two sons, Christopher Medeiros of Arizona and Aaron Medeiros of New Jersey; two step-sons, Matthew W. Aspden, II and Dylan J. Aspden, both of Somerset; a step-daughter, Megan E. Aspden of Fall River; a brother, Brian F. Medeiros (Wife Marusa) of North Carolina; a sister, KerrieBeth Mello (Husband Jonathan) of Cambridge, MA; his niece and god-child, Olivia Sainsbury; his aunt and god-mother, Marilyn O. Harrington; three cousins, Helen F. Trymbulak, M.D., Robert S. Ferreira and Kelli M. Costa-Renker.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John of God Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
