Dorothy Mello

Dorothy (Moreira) Mello, 83, of Tiverton, RI, a retired bookkeeper, died Monday, Dec. 22nd at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Frank P. Mello.

Born in Tiverton, RI, she was a daughter of the late Jacinto and Virginia (Botelho) Moreira; she was a Tiverton resident all of her life and a communicant of Holy Ghost Church. She was a graduate of the former Thibodeau Business School and was a former volunteer at St. Anne's Hospital. Mrs. Mello worked for Dr. Callery and Dr. Marks Dental Office, Manchester Seafood and Barker's Insurance.

She is survived by two sons, Frank J. Mello (wife Pamela) of Independence, KY and David F. Mello (wife Diane) of Tiverton; a brother, Jesse Moreira of Fall River; five grandchildren, Keryn Mills and Daniel Mello, Christopher, Samuel and Joseph Mello; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Moreira, Dorothy Moreira, Jesse Moreira, Joseph Moreira, Louis Moreira and Manuel "Lolo" Moreira.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church. Committal prayers and interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to an animal shelter of choice.
