Dorinda V. Alves

Dorinda (Vitoria) Alves, 82, of Second St., Fall River, died Wednesday at the Kimwell Healthcare. She was the wife of Jose S. Alves.

Born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jacinto and Hilda (Costa) Vitoria; she lived in Fall River for the past 43 years. She was a member of Santo Christo Church and its Holy Rosary Sodality. She did alot of volunteer work for St. Anne's Parish. Mrs. Alves had worked at TA's Restaurant as a cook.

Besides her husband of 59 years, she is survived by a daughter, Irene M. DaPonte (Husband Jose) of Fall River; a son, Paul Alves (Wife Ida) of Fall River; a sister, Alodia Melo of Fall River; four grandchildren, Helen Soares, Monica DaPonte, Tanya Alves and Joey DaPonte; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Oscar Vitoria, Irene Loureiro and Mercedes Medeiros.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5 - 8 p.m.
