Dolores (Benevides) Normandin, 79, of Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Summer St., New Bedford, formerly of Fall River, died Tuesday at St. Anne's Hospital.
Born in Fall River, MA she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Belmira (Correia) Benevides, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River although she resided at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford for the past year.
She was a sewing machine operator in the local garment industry and managed the laundry facility at the former Crestwood Nursing Home.
A kind and humble spirit with a passion for dancing (especially the Polka), country music, good food and above all spending time with those she loved. She truly treasured her children and grandchildren.
She was a longtime communicant of the former Our Ladies of Angels Church, now Good Shepherd Parish. She was a volunteer at the former Rose Hawthorne Cancer Home for a number of years.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Sharon Crowell (Husband James) of Tiverton, RI and beloved son Michael Normandin (Wife Sandra) of Tiverton, RI; three grandchildren, Jason, Michael and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Emma, Collin, Lauren and Mason; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel and Lawrence Benevides, Evelyn Majkut and Elaine McCoy.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation morning of funeral from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Dolores' memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Federation of Massachusetts, 1420 Providence Highway, Suite 277, Norwood, MA 02062 would be deeply appreciated.
