David Fernandes

TIVERTON - David Fernandes, 74, of Tiverton, RI, beloved husband, proud father and grandfather, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Cabral) Fernandes.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Louis and Sarah (Aguiar) Fernandes; he lived in Tiverton for over 50 years. He co-owned New England Ice Company for 21 years. An avid golfer, Mr. Fernandes was a member of Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, RI and a former Club Champ of Pocasset Country Club in Bristol, RI.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son, David J. Fernandes and his wife Diane of Dartmouth, MA; a sister, Alice Hayden of Little Compton, RI; two grandchildren, Kacy Fernandes and Kyle Fernandes; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louis Fernandes, Gilbert Fernandes and Alfred Fernandes.
Calling hours for Mr. Fernandes will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. in the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
