Charles L. Hoenigke

April 15, 1918 — December 21, 2011

Charles L. Hoenigke, 93, of Tiverton, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 21, 2011. He was the husband of the late Irene (White) Hoenigke.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, a son of the late Joseph H. and Marie K. (Wurz) Hoenigke, he resided in Tiverton for the past 47 years. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hoenigke served as a chief petty officer from 1940-1961.

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 72, a member of the Fall River Battleship Auxiliary and was affiliated with the American Legion, Post 102 in Providence

Mr. Hoenigke worked as a field engineer for Motorolla from 1961 to 1964 out of Chicago and from 1964 until his retirement in 1980; he worked as a civil service engineer technician for the Naval Underwater System Center. After retiring, he continued to perform general maintenance from 1980 to 2000 for the John H. Maher Center in Middletown, RI.

He is survived by two daughters, Johann M. Plante (husband Paul) of Merimack, NH and Cathleen M. McCormack (husband Mike) of Tiverton, RI; 4 sons, Robert J. Committo (wife Jo-Anne) of Tiverton, Charles J. Hoenigke of Fall River, MA, Curtis J. Hoenigke of Mission Veijo, CA and Donald A. Hoenigke (Wife Toni) of Little River, CA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Jan. 7th at 11 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Southcoast VNA & Hospice, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719 or St. Elizabeth's Manor, 1 Dawn Hill Rd., Bristol, RI 02809. Arrangements by the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St.
