Catherine (Carvalho) Tavares

TIVERTON...Catherine (Carvalho) Tavares, 85, of Tiverton passed away August 17, 2018 at her home.
She was the widow of Manuel Tavares to whom she had been married for 54 years prior to his passing.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Ferreira) Carvalho.
Mrs. Tavares had worked as a Sewing Machine Operator in the local Textile Industry for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children: Kenneth Tavares and Donna Tavares, both of Fall River; her sisters: Dorothy Carreiro of Westport and Virginia Carreiro of Tiverton; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert Tavares and had 8 brothers and sisters predecease her.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 10 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St. Fall River, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 35 Lake Rd. Tiverton, RI. Interment will be private. Calling hour will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5 - 8 PM.
