Carlos M Paiva

… Carlos M. Paiva, 72, of Fall River died August 1, 2014 at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Maria da Concicao (Barboza) Paiva.
He was born in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Carlos de Sousa and Almorinda (Cordeiro) Paiva; he lived in Fall River since 1978.
He was a communicant of Santo Christo Church. He was a mason working in construction retiring in 1992 due to health reasons. Mr. Paiva enjoyed gardening, watching soccer, and was a member of the Fall River Sports Club.
Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, nine children: Rosa M. Chasse (husband Paul), Aida Rodrigues, Lucia Souza (husband Chester), Carlos M. Paiva, Jr., Paul J. Paiva (wife Deborah), Carla P. Briggs (husband Kevin), Sidonia Paiva and Lupercia R. Paiva, all of Fall River and Diane M. Coffey-Paiva (wife Chastity) of Hickory, NC; four siblings: Luis Paiva, Fatima Paiva and Amalia Cordiero, all of Lagoa and Jose F. Paiva of Canada; 33 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8A.M. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9A.M. in Santo Christo Church, Fall River. Calling hours Wednesday 5 - 8 P.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
