Belmira (Cordeiro) Rapoza, 88, of Saint Elizabeth Manor, One Dawn Hill Rd., Bristol, RI, formerly of Mathew Rd., Tiverton, died Friday at the Manor. She was the wife of the late Henry M. Rapoza.
Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late John B. Cordeiro and Georgiana (Pimental) Cordeiro; she lived most of her life in Tiverton and was a longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church and member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was a member of the Ocean State Senior Citizens.
Mr. Rapoza was employed as a sewing machine operator for many years at the former Maplewood Mfg, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the former I.L.G.W.U., now U.N.I.T.E.
She is survived by two daughters, Bernice Araujo (Husband Joe) of Tiverton and Theresa Jagmin (Husband Shawn) of Tiverton; five grandchildren, Christopher Araujo, Nicole Martin, Tara Messenger, Kristin Thibeault and Shawn Jagmin II; three great-grandchildren, Alexander Pavao, Emma Martin and Samuel Messenger. She was the sister of the late Elsie Correia.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in Holy Ghost Church. Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday 6 - 9 p.m.
