FALL RIVER - Asterio G. De Melo, 74, of Fall River, a retired custodian, died Monday, February 5, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Delmira (Teves) De Melo.
Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria do Carmo (Ventura) De Melo; he lived in Fall River for the past 21 years. Mr. De Melo worked at the former Quaker Fabric.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carla P. Melo of Fall River; three sons, Paulo Melo and Ricardo Melo, both of St. Michael, Azores and Silvio Melo (wife Liliana) of Fall River; two sisters, Dalia Matos and Venilde Correia, both of Canada; a brother, Manuel Ventura of St. Michael, Azores; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Santo Christo Church, Columbia Street, Fall River. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Robeson Street, Fall River. Calling hours Thursday 5-8 p.m.
