Army National Guard Sgt. Jason T. Pool

Army National Guard Sgt. Jason T. Pool, 51, of Fall River, died January 28th at Fort Bragg, NC after serving in Afghanistan. He was the beloved husband of Linda S. (Machado) Pool.

Born in Newport, RI, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (Silvia) Pool, he lived most of his life in this city and grew up in the South End. He attended Somerset High School. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Sgt. Pool was part of the Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 101st Field Artillery Regiment based in Fall River. He was deployed to Afghanistan in January on his third tour of duty before returning to the United States in July. He was posted at Ft. Bragg and was assigned to the Warrior Transition Unit. His deployments included support of Operations Noble Eagle (2003-2005), Iraqi Freedom (2005-2006) and Enduring Freedom. He enlisted in the Massachusetts and served on active duty from November of 1979 to 1982. He served 34 years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and was awarded numerous badges, medals and ribbons. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Somerset and the Patriot Guard Riders.

Sgt. Pool was employed by the Department of Defense at Otis Air Force Base. He previously worked as a truck driver for 20 years at Preferred Concrete in E. Freetown and Mc Cabe Sand and Gravel Co. in Taunton.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Pool of Southbridge, MA; a sister, Doris Mullaney (Husband Michael) of RI; a brother, Edward Pool (Wife Terry) of Plymouth, MA; two granddaughters, Kaileigh and Victoria, numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was the step-father of the late Tammy Givens.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St. Interment with full military honors in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
