Antone R. "Tony" Tarvis, 73, of Berkley, died Thursday at home. He was the husband of Lucille (Deschenes) Tarvis.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Antone S. and Mary (Souza) Tarvis; he lived in Berkley since 1978. Mr. Tarvis was a Marine Corp veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Somerset, a member of the American Legion Post 121 in Berkley. He enjoyed stamp collecting, repairing things and volunteering.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Deborah Phaneuf and Lucretia E. Cardin, both of RI and Tamara A. Bannon of NY; a son, Eric M. Tarvis of Riverside, RI; two step-daughters, Christine Dias of Berkley and Nicole Durette of Swanea; a brother, Thomas Tarvis of Little Compton, RI; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 215 Columbia St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church, Assonet. Interment with military honors will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours Monday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Southcoast Cancer or Marine Corps League John J.
