Annie (Viveiros) Fortes

Annie (Viveiros) Fortes, 93, of Tiverton, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of the late Julio J. Fortes.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Boucher) Viveiros.

Prior to retiring in 1990, Annie worked for many years as a sewing machine operator at A&A Manufacturing in Fall River. She was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Church, in Tiverton, and a member of the Holy Ghost Women’s Guild. She was an avid reader, and both a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fanatic.

She is survived by her children Leonard Fortes and Robert Fortes, both of Tiverton, and Susan Fortes-Couitt (husband Richard Couitt), of Swansea; her grandchildren Jenna and Noah; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Julanne (Fortes) Trottier and sister of the late Rita Borges.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26, from 8 - 10 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St., Fall River, MA, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Newport Memorial Park Cemetery, in Middletown.
