Alice M. Silvia

Alice M. Silvia, 83, of Highlander Nursing Home, formerly of King Philip St., passed away Thursday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Jose M. and Guilhermina (Souza) Silvia; she was a lifelong resident of this city. She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1947.

Ms. Silvia worked as a payroll clerk for Globe Manufacturing for 33 years and was a member of the Globe Retirees Association.

She was fortunate enough to live in her home for many years in Fall River before moving to the Highlander Nursing Home through the assistance of the Family Service Association Guardianship Program. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Angels Church, now Good Shepherd Parish.

She is survived by two nieces and three nephews. She was the sister of the late Eileen Mattos, Mary Duarte and Manuel M. Silvia.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Parish. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
