Alfred J. "Fred" Correia, 87, of North Providence, formerly of Hancock Street, Tiverton, RI; died Saturday after a long illness at the Golden Crest Center. He was the long-time companion of 37 years to Georgianna "Georgie" Jordan. He was the former husband of the late Delia (Camara) Silvia.
Born in Tiverton, RI; a son of the late Peter and Ana (Medeiros) Correia; he resided most of his life in Tiverton.
Mr. Correia had worked as a manger for the former Silkson's for 30 years, he also was a manger at the former Bradlee's in the software department. He later worked as a security manager for Newport Grand until his retirement in 1990.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Besides his companion, he is survived by a son, Philip Correia of North Smithfield, RI and a daughter, Cornelia Correia-Massolo of Fenton, MI; 2 grandchildren, Amanda Correia and Eva Correia, several nieces and nephews and god-children. He was the brother of the late Manuel Correia, John Correia, Ernest Correia, Joseph Correia, Peter Correia and Frank Correia.
Private arrangements are by the Oliveira Funeral Home 215 Columbia Street Fall River, MA.
