Agostinho Melo

Agostinho F. Melo, of Fall River, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

    He was the loving husband of the late Veronica (Mendoza) Melo.

    Born in Santa Barbara, Santo Antonio, Alem Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Carvalho Melo and the late Ana Soares Melo.

    A hard worker, Agostinho dedicated 26 years as a facilities manager for the city of Fall River, spent 23 years at Pearson Yachts as a fiberglass man, and worked part-time at Stop & Shop for 21 years. He was an active community member, he served as past president of both the Fall River Sports Club and the Santo Cristo Club. A passionate soccer enthusiast and avid Benfica fan, Agostinho also enjoyed gardening—especially planting his tomatoes—woodworking, and treasured spending time with his family, particularly his granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

    He is survived by his granddaughter, Natashia Mello; his great-granddaughter, Gia-Vera Santos; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Agostinho M. Mello and his siblings, Conceicao Borges, Maria L. Aguiar, Manuel F. Melo, and Mariano F. Melo.

    A visitation will be held Sunday evening April 6, 2025, from 4 – 6 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, MA.

    His funeral will follow the next day Monday, April 7, at 9 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River, MA.
